Gaara is a gennin level ninja from the village of sand, he is first shown as the Sand gennin
team encounter Sakura and Naruto in Konoha before the chuunin exams begin. As young and litle as he may be, Gaara is a very
powerful gennin who bestills fear in the hearts of even his own team mates and relatives.
On his back he carry's a gourd made out of sand, the sand is mixed with blood from the people
Gaara has killed, Gaara also sees this gourd as his "mother". The gourd has a mind of its own, it can protect Gaara wether
he wants it or not, this ussually happens by forming a cocoon around Gaara whenever he is attacked, besides this, the sand
can also be used offensivly by Gaara's chakra. And so he does, Gaara has some very powerful attacks to his command, including
the Desert Coffin and Desert Graveyard (Japanese : Sabaku Kyuu and Sabaku Sousou). The first attack makes the sand constrict
the enemy into a vice grip, and in no-escape position, hence the coffin name. The Desert Graveyard is used to crush the opponent
within an instant. But there is more to Gaara then just sand...
When Gaara was born, he was merged with a being that was the incarnation of Sand. The living
spirit of an old hidden sand priest (Suna Gakure) that was being held in a kettle named Shukaku. Gaara's father, the KazeKage,
used a Hyoui no Jutsu (Possession spell) that allows a human being to be possessed by a living spirit or ghost, using his
mothers soul as nurishment for the possession. As son of the Kazekage, Gaara was spoiled beyond believe, he was trained in
the Sand Villages shiboi secrets, and he, assumingly, mastered most if not all of them, beyond this training Gaara was left
to do as he pleased. It was not until the age of 6 that the Kazekage began to see Gaara as a threat to the sand village, mainly
because of the fact that the possession jutsu was seriously screwing up Gaara's mental state, he has ordered countless assasinations
on Gaara's life, all have failed so far.
Gaara is an induvidual that has established his reason for living is to kill. Only through the
death of others is Gaara able to feel alive, the fact that he will not hesitate to kill as is shown in episode 34 against
the Rain Nins. On his face, Gaara has a tattoo, or rather a Kanji that stands for "love oneself", the Kanji was created after
the death of his mothers twin brother, using the sand as a tattooing agent.
